Sugarbush

Super Bravo

This was the last weekend of operation for the Heaven’s Gate Triple so I thought it prudent to use my voucher for Sugarbush before Lincoln Peak closed for the season. Sunshine and warm weather combined for a fun day despite the lack of quality bumps.

Organgrinder was pretty much it for a full bump run. Ripcord had occasional bump lines. Stein’s Run had horrific widely spaced mounds in between hard pack icy crust. But my most enjoyable runs were down Lower Organgrinder.

Stein's Run

Upper Organgrinder one third bumps, one third groomed, and one third gone. The bumps on skier’s left were variable and large without any good lines. Soft tops with scrape in between. The type of bumps you are thankful to have during this type of late season but still less than satisfactory. The ejection from the summit down Jester was epic in all the worst ways due to a severe lack of snow.

I was amazed to find some quality thin cover bump skiing on Lower Organgrinder and Domino. If I had known the skiing was so good, I would have just lapped Domino and Lower O all day. But I hit it late in the day so my legs were already quite tired. I got a few quality runs before calling it a day.
